The award-winning documentary “Eraserheads: Combo on the Run”  is coming to Netflix this May 30, giving fans and music lovers a closer look at one of the Philippines’ most iconic bands.

The streaming release will feature a reworked version of the documentary, including behind-the-scenes and raw footage, and an expanded look into the band’s journey.

According to Variety, the documentary follows the journey of the Eraserheads from their early days as university students in 1989 to their rise as one of the country’s biggest bands. The film will also cover the group’s reunion years, including a large-scale concert tour attended by nearly 250,000 fans.

The documentary first premiered in Philippine cinemas in March 2025 under Warner Bros. Pictures. It made history as the first Filipino music documentary to secure the widest theatrical release in the country and later became the first Filipino film screened at San Diego Comic-Con.

The film also gained recognition on the international festival circuit, winning Best International Feature Documentary at the 12th Ierapetra International Documentary and Film Festival held in Greece. It was also featured at the 44th Annual Hawaii International Film Festival, along with screenings at Doc Berlin and the Liverpool Film Festival.

Formed by Ely Buendia, Buddy Zabala, Marcus Adoro and Raimund Marasigan, the group, who are often dubbed as “The Beatles of the Philippines," is widely regarded as one of the most influential acts in OPM history. Their hit songs include “Ang Huling El Bimbo,” “Pare Ko,” “Ligaya,” and “With a Smile.”

In 1997, they became the first Filipino artist to win the MTV Asia Viewers’ Choice Award at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The band officially disbanded in 2002 after Buendia left the group, but reunited for major concerts in later years, including multiple reunion shows, before returning once again for the 2025 documentary "Combo on the Run."
