The 2026 Grammy Awards season officially kicked off as the Recording Academy revealed this year’s nominees, highlighting a wide-ranging showcase of talent that spans musical genres and global influences, including the girl group KATSEYE.
The nominees, announced during an official livestream, included artists Chappell Roan, Doechii, KAROL G, Mumford & Sons, Sabrina Carpenter, and Sam Smith, who announced nominees across all 95 award categories.
According to the official website of Grammy Awards, this year’s nominations reflect a broad range of musical styles and voices, spanning pop, rap, R&B, country, global music, jazz, and more, while highlighting both established artists and first-time nominees.
Among the most notable nominees this year is global girl group KATSEYE, which received nominations for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, according to the Korean news site Dong-A Ilbo.
The Grammy Awards had previously confirmed that all eight Best New Artist nominees from KATSEYE will perform during the live telecast.
Formed through the international audition project The Debut: Dream Academy—a collaboration between HYBE and Geffen Records—KATSEYE debuted in June 2024 and quickly gained momentum and popularity. Their hit songs ‘Gnarly,’ ‘Gabriela,’ and ‘Internet Girl’ all charted on the Billboard Hot 100.”
KATSEYE’s members also include Sophia Laforteza, a Filipino‑American artist who serves as the group’s leader. As the first Filipino member to debut through HYBE’s global project, Laforteza brings both talent and representation to the group, proudly highlighting her Filipino heritage on the international stage.
The growing Asian footprint at the 2026 GRAMMYs extends beyond KATSEYE. BLACKPINK’s Rosé earned multiple nominations, including Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her collaboration with Bruno Mars on “APT.,” as well as nominations in the Record of the Year and Song of the Year categories.
Meanwhile, Golden, the original soundtrack from Netflix’s animated film K-pop Demon Hunters, secured five nominations, including Song of the Year.
The 2026 GRAMMY Awards are scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 1, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+. Winners will be chosen by the Academy’s Voting Members, a peer group made up of music professionals such as artists, songwriters, producers, and engineers. This peer-based voting process highlights the GRAMMYs as the music industry’s only awards determined by fellow creators.
Music fans will get an exclusive look behind the scenes of the 68th Annual GRAMMY Awards with “Inside the 68th Annual GRAMMY Awards,” airing Friday, January 30, from 8–9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and Paramount+, per Recording Academy.
