Filipino actress Mika Dela Cruz turned emotional as she shared how grateful she was to finally reunite with her family in Austria together with her husband, actor Nash Aguas.
In her latest vlog, Mika opened up about the warm welcome they received from her relatives, whom she had not seen in almost nine years.
Mika said they had just arrived in Innsbruck and immediately headed to their family’s home in Inzing after being picked up from the bus terminal near the airport.
She revealed that her relatives even surprised them with an apartment, where Mika and Nash, 27, will stay for two weeks. “Niregaluhan nila kami ng apartment, five minutes from their house dito sa Inzing.”
The actress shared how touching the reunion was, especially since it was also the first time her family met Nash. She added that they immediately felt the love and thoughtfulness of her family, who prepared everything for their arrival.
“Binigyan nila kami ng fruits. May mga binili silang Coke, water. Tapos pagdating namin kanina, nilutuan kami ng tita ko ng Italian pasta, spaghetti.”
One of the highlights of their first day was finally eating Sachertorte again, one of Austria’s most famous cakes. Mika recalled telling Nash about the dessert ever since they first started dating because she loved it so much.
“Sobrang sarap ng cake. Tapos may whipped cream at meron siyang layer ng apricot jam. May konting rum nga iyong cake,” she said.
Mika also choked up while talking about the effort her family made to prepare for their stay. She shared that the room where her mother would stay used to belong to her grandparents, but her relatives renovated and decorated it like an Airbnb. They even placed photo frames and family pictures inside, including photos of Mika’s family and her late brother Edward.
“Sobrang natutuwa kami ni Nash. Sobrang grateful lang. And first day pa lang, sobrang nararamdaman namin yung pagmamahal ni Lord through them,” she said.
Mika also shared a heartwarming moment with her younger cousin, who was very eager to bond with them despite the language barrier.
“Kasi hindi na ako marunong mag-German eh. Kasi nga nag-aral na ako ng Filipino at English,” she admitted. Because of this, they communicated using Google Translate.
Toward the end of the video, Mika said that Nash seemed to be crying quietly in the bathroom because of how emotional the experience was. She then promised viewers an apartment tour in her next vlog, saying she still could not believe they had finally arrived in Austria.
Mika has a mixed heritage, with an Italian-Austrian mother and a Japanese father. She shares a mother with actress Angelika dela Cruz, whose father is Filipino. Despite her Austrian and Japanese roots, she uses the surname Dela Cruz from her stepfather.
In an earlier post, Goin’ Bulilit alum Mika and Nash had already explored Innsbruck during their stay in Austria. The couple started dating in October 2018 and later got married in an intimate ceremony in May 2024.
