A test run of New York City’s ball drop concluded successfully in Times Square on Tuesday (December 30), less than 48 hours before the final countdown to New Year’s Eve.

Standing on an outdoor platform high above Times Square, representatives from Countdown Entertainment, Times Square Alliance, Jamestown and One Times Square, and Carnival Corporation flipped the switch to illuminate and raise the 12,350-pound New Year’s Eve Times Square crystal ball.

"It went up, it came down, and we are ready for tomorrow," said Countdown Entertainment President, Jeffrey Strauss.

The Constellation Ball is the largest New Year’s Eve Ball ever, containing 5,280 crystals and LED light pucks.

It will remain dark until the final countdown, seconds before midnight on December 31, 2025.
