China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Tuesday he hopes parties involved in the Iran conflict will remain committed to pursuing a ceasefire and continue working toward mutual compromise.


Speaking to reporters at the United Nations in New York, Wang made the remarks after chairing a meeting of the 15-member UN Security Council. China holds the council’s rotating presidency for the month of May.


Wang emphasized the importance of continued dialogue and urged all sides to maintain engagement in efforts to reduce tensions and avoid further escalation.
