Bryson Stott hit his second three-run home run of the series, and Jesús Luzardo struck out 10 batters to lead the visiting Philadelphia Phillies to a 7-2 victory over the Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon.
Stott also delivered a three-run homer in Philadelphia’s 6-5 win over Miami in Friday’s series opener.
Luzardo (3-3), who pitched for the Marlins from 2021 to 2024, was dominant through six innings before allowing a two-run home run to Esteury Ruiz in the seventh. That was his only major mistake of the day. He allowed two runs on eight hits over 6 1/3 innings, without issuing a walk.
Kyle Schwarber and Brandon Marsh reached base three times each for the Phillies, who totaled 11 hits after managing just one hit in Saturday’s 4-0 loss.
Justin Crawford added an RBI single in the third inning, extending his hitting streak to six games.
Philadelphia has now won five of its last six games since the firing of manager Rob Thomson last Tuesday.
For Miami, Otto López and Christopher Morel each collected two hits. The Marlins have lost five of their last eight games.
The Phillies took control early. Trea Turner opened the game with a ground-rule double, and Schwarber followed with a walk after striking out eight times over the previous two games. Schwarber acknowledged the moment with a lighthearted smile as teammates gave him a mock ovation.
Bryce Harper also walked to load the bases, and Alec Bohm brought in the first run with a fielder’s choice. Brandon Marsh then worked a bases-loaded walk, and J.T. Realmuto added a sacrifice fly to give Philadelphia a 3-0 lead.
Stott extended the lead later, crushing a 2-2 cutter from Chris Paddack (0-5) over the right-center field wall to break the game open.
Paddack allowed seven runs on six hits, with three walks and one strikeout over 2 2/3 innings.
