Sandy Alcantara delivered six strong innings, Javier Sanoja provided a go-ahead bloop single in the eighth, and the visiting Miami Marlins secured a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday to clinch a series win.

Liam Hicks and Esteury Ruiz each hit home runs as the Marlins took two of three games from the two-time defending champions, earning their first road series win of the season.

The Dodgers loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the ninth, but Miami sealed the win when second baseman Xavier Edwards turned an unassisted double play on a Freddie Freeman ground ball to end the game.

Alcantara allowed two runs on seven hits over six innings. Left-hander Andrew Nardi (2-1) threw a scoreless seventh, and Calvin Faucher earned his first save with a scoreless ninth.

Tyler Glasnow gave up two runs on three hits across 5 2/3 innings for Los Angeles. Alex Call and Dalton Rushing each drove in a run for the Dodgers, who have now won just one of their last four series.

Los Angeles has gone 5-7 since April 18 and finished its recent homestand with a 3-3 record.

Miami struck first in the second inning when Hicks launched a towering home run down the right-field line that nearly reached the second deck.

The Dodgers responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning. Max Muncy doubled, then scored when Edwards lost sight of Alex Call’s pop-up in the sun, allowing the ball to drop untouched on the infield.

The Marlins were held hitless off Glasnow until the fifth, when Ruiz broke through with a two-out solo home run on the first pitch he saw.

Los Angeles tied the game at 2-2 in the sixth. Kyle Tucker led off with a double and later scored on Rushing’s RBI single to right field.

Miami eventually reclaimed the lead in the eighth when Edwards singled to open the inning, advanced on a groundout, and scored on Sanoja’s soft single to right off Will Klein (1-2).

The Marlins then held on in the ninth after their defensive standout secured the game-ending double play.
