Flames Forward Ryan Strome fined $5K for cross-checking

Calgary’s Ryan Strome was fined $5,000 for cross-checking Dallas’ Jason Robertson during overtime in Tuesday’s 4-3 loss, with the penalty money going to the NHL Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

The NHL has fined Calgary Flames forward Ryan Strome $5,000 for cross-checking Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson.


The incident happened 45 seconds into overtime during the Stars' 4-3 home win on Tuesday. Strome was also assessed a double-minor penalty for high-sticking on the play.


Strome, 32, has recorded 11 points, including five goals and six assists, in 16 games since being traded to Calgary from the Anaheim Ducks on March 6. He also scored his 500th career point with a goal in Saturday’s win at Anaheim.


The fine, which is the maximum allowed under the NHL’s collective bargaining agreement, will be directed to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
