Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles take the field this week looking to avoid a four-game losing streak, but head coach Nick Sirianni dismissed speculation that the reigning Super Bowl MVP quarterback might lose his starting role.

After a strong 8-2 start, the Eagles have slipped to 8-5, with Hurts posting a quarterback rating of 31.2 in Monday’s 22-19 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, throwing four interceptions and fumbling once.

Is Hurts still the team’s No. 1 quarterback?

"Yeah, absolutely," Sirianni said Wednesday in an interview with 94 WIP.

Could he be benched later this season?

"No, I think that's ridiculous," Sirianni added. "I know every time I go out on that field with Jalen Hurts as our quarterback, we have a chance to win the game. And that's something that's proven. We've won a lot of football games. We don't ever go in and assign something. This is a team game. You win together as a team. You lose together as a team.

"I know every time I walk on that field with Jalen Hurts as our quarterback we can win every game, any game that we're in."

Philadelphia remains well below the league average with 13 giveaways. Hurts’ fumble against the Chargers was his first of the season, bringing his total turnovers in 2025 to six, including four interceptions. Last season, the Eagles had 16 turnovers.

The Eagles still lead the NFC East, but offensive production has been a concern throughout the season, particularly in recent weeks. Since scoring 38 points in an 18-point win over the New York Giants on October 26, the team has averaged just 16.2 points per game and has allowed 20 or more points in 10 games this season. -Field Level Media/Reuters
