Moses Moody hit a crucial 3-pointer in overtime before suffering a knee injury as the Golden State Warriors capped a six-game road trip with a 137-131 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night.
Moody finished with 23 points for the Warriors (34-38), who had eight players score in double figures and earned just their second win on the road trip. Kristaps Porzingis, returning to one of his former teams, added 22 points, Brandin Podziemski had 20, and Gary Payton II contributed 17.
Cooper Flagg led the Mavericks (23-49) with a game-high 32 points. Dallas erased an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit and had a chance to tie at the buzzer, but Naji Marshall’s 25-foot attempt missed.
In overtime, Golden State opened with seven straight points. Podziemski and Gui Santos split two free throws each around Moody’s fourth 3-pointer. With 1:09 left, Moody stole the ball from Flagg and went for a dunk, but his right knee gave out, forcing him to leave the court on a stretcher. The Warriors held on, keeping Dallas scoreless for the remainder of the game.
Porzingis, who spent three seasons with the Mavericks, went 7-of-17 from the field, making two 3-pointers and adding seven rebounds and five assists. Podziemski also had a double-double with 10 rebounds, while Draymond Green tied him with six assists and added 11 points and seven rebounds.
Other Golden State contributors included Santos (16), LJ Cryer (14), and Will Richard (12). The win keeps Golden State 1½ games behind Portland in the battle for the Western Conference’s ninth play-in spot.
For Dallas, Flagg added nine assists to go with his 32 points, Daniel Gafford scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and Marshall had 16 points. Max Christie and former Warriors star Klay Thompson each scored 15 points.
