A trio of Toronto Raptors players scored more than 20 points, and Scottie Barnes and Jamal Shead combined for 24 in a third-quarter surge as the visiting Raptors used a balanced attack to complete a two-day Northern California sweep with a 122-109 win over the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night.
Barnes and Brandon Ingram led the Raptors with 23 points each, while Sandro Mamukelashvili added 22. Immanuel Quickley contributed 18 points, and Shead finished with 15. Toronto had used a strong first half to pull away from the Golden State Warriors in a 145-127 victory in San Francisco on Tuesday night.
Looking like a tired team after playing their third game in four nights, Toronto took a different approach in Sacramento. The Raptors fell behind by as many as 12 points in the first half but rallied from a 61-52 halftime deficit thanks to a 43-point explosion in the third quarter.
Barnes scored 14 points and Shead added 10 during the decisive period. Toronto tied the game at 73-all with 6:37 remaining in the third quarter and went on to build a 13-point lead by the end of the period.
The Kings, also playing the second night of a back-to-back and their third game in four days, never got closer than eight points in the final period.
Mamukelashvili came up just short of matching his season-high 24 points set last month against the Boston Celtics, while also tying for a team-high nine rebounds—missing a double-double by just one rebound.
Barnes also contributed eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals, while Quickley recorded a game-high eight assists along with six rebounds and two steals.
Gradey Dick was the sixth Raptor to score in double figures, finishing with 11 points off the bench. Toronto shot 45.7% from the field and 39.4% from beyond the arc.
With Domantas Sabonis rested on the back-to-back, the Kings received 23 points from Russell Westbrook, 19 from Zach LaVine, 17 from Malik Monk, 16 from Dennis Schroder, and 11 from Precious Achiuwa. LaVine led Sacramento with five assists, while Dylan Cardwell grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.
Sacramento dropped its third straight game despite shooting 46.6% from the field.
