Manchester City manager Andree Jeglertz said he already sensed at the start of the season that his team had a strong chance of winning the Women’s Super League (WSL) title, crediting the club’s ambition and winning mentality as key reasons behind his decision to join.

City were confirmed as champions on Wednesday after Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton & Hove Albion, securing the title before the final matchday.

Jeglertz, who took charge ahead of the current campaign, became only the second manager in WSL history to win the title in his debut season, following Chelsea’s Sonia Bompastor in 2025.

“I knew the ambition from the club, what they put into the women’s program, the quality of players, and also the hunger to win,” the Swedish coach said in an interview with the BBC.

“Definitely, I had a feeling from the beginning that it was possible. I’m here because that was one of the many things they wanted us to aim for.

“I believed in it, but it went fast. We got pretty good quite early. The more you believe in it, the more you realize everything is possible with the quality of this group.”

Manchester City will now shift focus to their FA Cup semi-final clash against defending champions Chelsea on Sunday, as they continue their push for further silverware this season.
