Defender Millie Turner scored a 79th-minute winner to give Manchester United a 2-1 victory over London City Lionesses in the Women's Super League on Sunday. Despite the win, United remain eight points behind rivals Manchester City, who crushed Leicester City 6-0 on Friday.
With six league games remaining, Manchester City lead the standings with 42 points, United are second with 34, and reigning champions Chelsea sit third with 33 following a comfortable 2-0 home win over Liverpool.
Birmingham offered plenty of excitement as Tottenham Hotspur secured a 7-3 win over Aston Villa, featuring a Scandinavian scoring spree from Norwegians Signe Gaupset, Cathinka Tandberg (twice), and Julie Blakstad. The victory lifts Spurs to fifth place, level on 29 points with fourth-placed Arsenal, whose match against Brighton & Hove Albion was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Everton continued West Ham United’s struggles with a 1-0 home win, leaving the Hammers 10th in the 12-team league with 11 points—just one ahead of Liverpool and two ahead of Leicester, who face a relegation playoff at the end of the season.
