Actor and senator Robin Padilla said that he is ready to pass the torch to his nephew, Daniel Padilla, 31, in a potential fourth installment of the long-running action film franchise, “Bad Boy.”
According to the senator in an ambush interview posted on Tiktok, his nephew Daniel Padilla will be the next "Bad Boy." Robin said, "Oo. Yung Daddy niya (Rommel Padilla) ang gumagawa ng storya (ng "Bad Boy 4"). Gusto namin kasi manggaling kay Daniel yung plot. Wala namang dapat iba." This video has not been verified by Senator Padilla himself.
During the talkback session following the special screening of “Bad Boy 3” on June 4, Robin said plans are in place to introduce a younger lead in “Bad Boy 4,” adding that he no longer considers himself a believable fit for the bad boy image.
He also noted that discussions for a fourth installment are already underway, suggesting that the franchise’s legacy should be passed on to someone capable of carrying it forward.
As of now, no official announcement has been made regarding the cast—including a possible new leading lady—or production details for the potential upcoming installment.
"Bad Boy 3" marks Robin's return to the action franchise that helped cement his image as the "Bad Boy of Philippine cinema." The film also stars Nadia Montenegro, Ejay Falcon, Joko Diaz, Juancho Triviño, Yzandra Gorobat and Dennis Padilla, who also appeared in Bad Boy 2.
The original film centers on Bumbo (Robin), a gangster who is forced into a criminal life following his father’s death as he tries to protect his mother.
After nearly 11 years in development, the film is finally set for release later this year, although no official release date has been announced.
The "Bad Boy" franchise began in 1990 under Viva Films and was followed by “Bad Boy 2” in 1992.
The "Bad Boy" moniker was originally associated with late action star Ace Vergel, who passed away in 2007 at the age of 53, before becoming closely linked to Robin Padilla throughout his film career.
Robin has become one of the country’s most recognizable action stars, with films such as “Mistah,” “Manila Boy,” “Buhay Kamao,” and “10,000 Hours.”
