The Barretto family is grieving the loss of Estrella “Inday” Barretto, the mother of one of most recognized clans in Philippine showbiz.
Though she lived much of her life away from the public eye, Inday’s presence was felt through her children—Claudine, Gretchen, and Marjorie—whose lives and careers she quietly shaped.
Inday had been battling health issues in recent months, including hospitalizations and stays in intensive care, though the family has not revealed the exact cause of death.
Her wake in Taguig City brought the siblings together in a heartfelt reunion, setting aside past differences.
Sisters Claudine and Gretchen comforted each other, with Claudine resting her head on the shoulder of her sister Gretchen who was embracing her, as seen in the photos posted by their brother Joaquin on Facebook.
Photos and videos shared on social media captured intimate family moments, including Claudine’s conversation with sister Marjorie.
Meanwhile, Marjorie expressed her emotions over the loss, recalling a quiet afternoon spent with her mother at the hospital just days before her passing.
She described those hours as “priceless” and expressed gratitude for having the chance to be by her mother’s side in her final moments.
“Please keep our beautiful, feisty, strong, funny, and loving Mom in your prayers,” Marjorie wrote on her Instagram, asking followers to keep her mom in their prayers as her mother is now resting beside her father and brother Mito.
Claudine also took to social media to mourn the loss of their mother, posting photos and videos with a simple but heartfelt message: “Mommy we're all here. We love you.”
Fans and followers responded with an outpouring of support, observing how the siblings came together during a difficult time.
Inday’s passing has shifted the focus from past controversies to the enduring legacy of a woman who shaped the lives of her children and grandchildren with quiet strength and devotion.
Though she is no longer physically present, Estrella “Inday” Barretto’s spirit continues to inspire her family.
Inday Barretto passed away on Thursday, January 29, at the age of 89.
