Cardi B covered by umbrellas as she leaves The Mark Hotel for the Met Gala

Cardi B, along with other celebrities including Colman Domingo and Tate McRae, headed to the Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where fashion’s biggest night celebrates the Costume Institute’s annual spring exhibit. This year’s event, themed “Fashion is Art,” invites stars to treat the body as a canvas while raising funds for the museum.

Cardi B, her outfit covered by her entourage holding umbrellas, left The Mark Hotel on Manhattan’s Upper East Side on Monday (May 4), making her way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for fashion’s biggest night.


Other celebrities leaving the hotel included actor Colman Domingo and singer Tate McRae.


The Met Gala annual fundraiser, held on the first Monday in May, raises money for the museum’s Costume Institute and is timed to celebrate the opening of its major spring fashion show. 


Other stars expected to attend include Rihanna, Beyoncé, Venus Williams and Kim Kardashian. Tickets cost $100,000 each but most celebrities attend as guests.


This year’s dress code, "Fashion is Art" invited guests to treat the body as a canvas.
