“Kapamilya Deal or No Deal” is making a comeback on television this year.
ABS-CBN confirmed the news through a social media post yesterday, March 26, introducing comedian-actor and tv host Luis “Lucky” Manzano as the host of the brand-new season.
“LUCKY YOU! Buksan mo na ang ang briefcase at i-welcome ang panalo,” the post said.
Dubbed the “Pambansang Host,” Manzano, 44, also shared the teaser on his social media accounts. “We are baaaaaack!” he wrote.
“Lucky you! Nagbabalik ang swerte mo this year. Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal?” Manzano said in the teaser.
Joining Manzano are 20 “lucky stars” who will compete in the show’s newest season. While the teaser only showed contestants in silhouette under dark lighting, some fans seem to have guessed their identities.
“YES! Excited for Rave,” one fan wrote, while another commented, “ASHRAVE,” referring to actors Rave Victoria and Ashley Sarmiento, who formed a friendship and 'loveteam' inside the Pinoy Big Brother house. The post also confirmed that the show will air on Saturdays and Sundays.
The Philippine version of “Deal or No Deal,” hosted by Kris Aquino, premiered in 2006 and ended in 2009. The show made a comeback In 2012 with Luis Manzano as host until the last season in 2016.
The return of “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal” is also a sort of homecoming for Manzano as he host the show again after a decade-long hiatus.
Although "Kapamily Deal or No Deal" is based on the Dutch game show Miljoenenjacht (Hunt for Millions), the Philippine version follows the gameplay of the American version “Deal or No Deal,” hosted by Canadian actor-host Howie Mandel.
Contestants eliminate briefcases each round while a hidden banker offers deals over the phone. The game ends when a player either accepts a deal or chooses the amount inside their very first case.
Manzano currently hosts “Rainbow Rumble.” Over the years, he has also hosted other game shows like “I Can See Your Voice” and “Minute to Win It.”
