Donny Pangilinan demanded a stop to spreading online hate after a viral fangirl moment involving Shuvee Etrata. The incident also drew Belle Mariano into the discussion.
On Saturday, March 28, Donny took to social media X, to speak out against the backlash.
“Hey guys, I’m out of the country right now on a short break, but I’ve been seeing a lot online. I don’t usually speak up, but I think it’s time we stop spreading hate and constantly comparing people. There are far more important things happening in our country,” he wrote.
He added, “ I feel like we’ve gotten too comfortable throwing hate online without thinking about how it affects real people who’ve done nothing wrong. This is for all fandoms. Artists have lives too. It’s gone below the belt. Why did we get to this point?”
Donny also defended Belle Mariano, asking fans to keep her out of the controversy. “As for Belle, please leave her out of your narratives. She is beautiful, talented, and most importantly, has a great heart. Nothing you say or do will change that.”
Donny, 28, and Belle, 23, form the popular “DonBelle” love team which has a large fanbase. He also explained the situation with Shuvee, 24, noting that the videos circulating online caught him by surprise. “People forget we are all friends in this industry. Why do we keep pitting people against each other?”
Addressing also the critics who might think he enjoys clout or seeing others bashed, Donny emphasized, “You clearly don’t know me. Feel free to leave. There’s no space for that here.”
He ended his posts on a positive note: “Hope everyone’s doing okay despite how horrible our situation is right now. Thank you to those who continue to spread love. Have a blessed Holy Week! Love y’all.”
Meanwhile, Shuvee responded to the incident in a video, apologizing and promising to keep her fangirl reactions in check around her longtime crush, co-actor Donny.
Shuvee has been vocal about her admiration for Donny since her time on Pinoy Big Brother. She referred to the actor as TDH (tall, dark, and handsome), which even became a trending topic.
Many viewers and fans reacted positively, finding Shuvee’s reactions both relatable and entertaining, especially since having a crush is something many people can relate to.
