Emily Bader, Logan Lerman bring ‘thirty, flirty, and thriving’ back in '13 Going on 30' reboot

Emily Bader and Logan Lerman are set to star in a Netflix reboot of the classic fantasy and romance movie "13 Going on 30," bringing back the iconic line “thirty, flirty, and thriving” for rom-com fans and a new generation.

 Netflix officially announced the remake on Tuesday, March 24, more than 20 years after the original film, starring American actors Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo, first hit theaters.

Garner, 53, will return as an executive producer, with filmmaker and actor Brett Haley directing the project. The original film’s director, the late Gary Winick, passed away in 2011 after a battle with cancer.

Netflix teased the announcement on Facebook with the caption, “Thirty is the age of success,” repeated three times.

The reboot reunites Bader, 29, with director Haley following their successful collaboration on romance film "People We Meet on Vacation" (novel by Emily Henry), which performed strongly on Netflix’s global charts. 

Following the movie's success, the two were looking ahead to working together again and saw the "13 Going on 30" reboot as the perfect opportunity. 

According to Deadine, Lerman, 34, was their top choice to play Bader’s love interest.

Originally released in April 2004 by Columbia Pictures, "13 Going on 30" tells the story of Jenna Rink, a 13-year-old girl who magically wakes up as her 30-year-old self. 

As she navigates adulthood, she realizes her life isn’t as perfect as she once imagined, especially after encountering her childhood best friend, Matty, as adults.

The original film earned about $96 million worldwide, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, developed a strong following, and eventually led to a reboot. Details about the reboot’s plot remain under wraps.

Bader, who gained popularity from People We Meet on Vacation, has quickly become a rising name at Netflix. She’s also set to appear in the upcoming sports drama "The 99’ers." She previously starred in "My Lady Jane" and "Fresh Kills."

Lerman’s recent work includes "Oh, Hi!," "Only Murders in the Building," and "We Were the Lucky Ones." Aside from the "13 Going on 30" reboot, he is also set to appear in the upcoming comedy film "College Republicans."
