MANILA, Philippines — Filipina actress Lorraine Wong has been nominated for Most Popular Rising Star at Singapore’s 31st Star Awards, scheduled for April 19, 2026, at the MES Theatre.

Organized by Mediacorp, the Star Awards is Singapore’s premier annual television awards ceremony, recognizing excellence in television and entertainment.

Lorraine received the nomination for her role in the 2025 Singapore television series “Another Wok of Life.”

In the production, she portrayed Yada, a Filipina traveling to Singapore in search of her first love, starring alongside acclaimed actors Jeremy Chan, Guo Liang, and Richie Koh.

This recognition marks a significant international milestone for the actress and highlights the increasing presence of Filipino talent in global television.

LORRAINE'S ACTING JOURNEY

Lorraine's acting journey began in 2022 when she was crowned Second Runner-Up at Miss Chinatown Philippines.

This opportunity opened doors for her in the entertainment industry, and over the past three years, she has steadily built her experience across film and television.

What started as an unexpected path has since become a genuine passion for acting.

Her debut project was the Regal Entertainment production “The Day I Loved You,” directed by Easy Ferrer.

She attributes her early opportunities in the industry to the support of Virtual Playground and Roselle Monteverde of Regal Entertainment.

She later made her television series debut in “Lovers & Liars,” directed by Crisanto Aquino, where she worked alongside Claudine Barretto. This was followed by her first film appearance in “Guilty Pleasure,” directed by Connie Macatuno and starring Lovi Poe.

Lorraine has since appeared in several Philippine productions, including episodes of Regal Studio Presents, such as “Mr. Perfect Model Guy.” She also worked with GMA Public Affairs, appearing in the "Grasya" episode of the drama anthology “Tadhana.”

ON THE NOMINATION

Lorraine Wong expressed surprise and gratitude upon learning of her nomination, describing it as a meaningful milestone in her career.

While working on a Singapore television series was already a significant achievement, this recognition at the Star Awards further affirms a journey she described as both challenging and humbling.

She added that the nomination serves as a reminder that unexpected paths can lead to meaningful opportunities, motivating her to continue growing and refining her craft.
