Filipino actress Kate Valdez, Japanese vlogger Fumiya Sankai go silent on their relationship

Filipino actress Kate Valdez and Japanese vlogger Fumiya Sankai, popularly known simply as Fumiya, previously made their relationship public after sharing cute and sweet videos of themselves together on social media.

Fumiya first gained public attention on YouTube, where he won viewers over with his content centered on the Philippines—showcasing local food, music, culture and places where he is currently staying. 

Fumiya's genuine love for Filipino culture has earned him a strong following among Filipinos as well as international viewers curious about the country.

Kate Valdez began her career as a model before transitioning into acting. She made her television debut as Violet in the series Destiny Rose and later gained wider recognition for her roles in various drama and fantasy projects. 

With her attractive features and undeniable screen presence, Kate has often been compared by fans to actress Filipino-American Liza Soberano due to their resemblance. Soberano was a former Philippine actress and eventually pursued a career in Hollywood.

Fumiya, 30, and Kate, 25, rose to greater popularity through separate projects: Fumiya through the reality competition show Pinoy Big Brother, and Kate through the fantasy drama series Encantadia, according to their profile on the Internet Movie Database (IMDB).

Many fans were delighted when Fumiya and Kate revealed their off-screen romance and they were affectionately dubbed the Onigiri couple by their supporters. 

In appreciation to their supporters, the pair frequently shared lighthearted content, including videos of them singing and dancing together.

One notable moment was their joint dance performance on TikTok to a song titled Kaya produced by Fumiya himself.

Given the couple’s constant display of joy, humor, and affection online and in interviews, many believed their relationship was strong and enduring. 

Recent signs, however, have fueled rumors that the pair might have parted ways behind the scenes.

As of now, neither Fumiya nor Kate has released an official statement about their current relationship status. 

Several signs suggest the couple may have parted ways. These include their mutual unfollowing on Instagram and Kate deleting their photos and videos together from her social media accounts, including content on their shared TikTok account, Onigiri Lovers. 

Kate has also posted Instagram stories featuring sad song lyrics, which many interpret as reflecting her current emotional state. 

Meanwhile, Fumiya has remained quiet about the issue of a possible breakup. His recent social media posts mostly consist of consecutive videos of himself singing.

Some followers leave comments on his posts expressing hope that he still cares for Kate and hat the couple can resolve any misunderstandings between them.
