Another Filipino artist is  shining on the global stage.

Filipino singer Matty Juniosa recently won over judges and audiences alike on Britain’s Got Talent with his powerful and expressive voice.

Juniosa delivered his rendition of Prince’s "Purple Rain," earning him a standing ovation, with the crowd chanting, “Press that gold!”

The judges were clearly impressed. Singer Alesha Dixon said, “Your range is insane. It’s like when you discover a new food or restaurant you're like, ‘I need to go back, I need more.”

Singer and actress Amanda Holden added, “I can see how much you want this and the passion in you. So well done because it was an amazing audition. And I just love you!”

British influencer and musician KSI said, “As soon as you took that mic off that stand, you became a superstar.”

Music producer and TV personality Simon Cowell pressed the Golden Buzzer, sending Juniosa straight to the semifinals. “This is the biggest reaction we’ve had from anyone,” he said.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Juniosa hugged  Simon, who later posted on Instagram: “I love this audition and I could have given him 2 Golden Buzzers. Hope you all love the audition as well.”

Juniosa also shared a heartfelt message online. “You know together we’re what?! Golden!! Let’s go Philippines and Glasgow!! I love you @bgt AND @simoncowell and BLACKPOOL!!”

Filipino celebrities, including Jason Dy, Mark Bautista, Ogie Alcasid, and Gary Valenciano, expressed their support and congratulated him on his post.

Juniosa also thanked his supporters through an Instagram story. “Thank you so much for all the messages. I promise to get back to all of you. I’m just a little overwhelmed at the moment. To all my friends and everyone, from elementary school to me, working in Glasgow restaurants—thank you guys so much. I can’t wait to get to the interviews and to answer all your questions.”

He confirmed that he took home the Golden Buzzer confetti.  Juniosa, 27, has been living in Glasgow, Scotland for the past three years, working  as a part-time waiter while pursuing his dream.

Juniosa tried out for The Voice of the Philippines Season 2, but unfortunately, he did not make the cut.  Undaunted, he continued his musical journey and, in 2019, competed as a finalist in Idol Philippines where, after a few rounds, he was eliminated.

In frustration and what seemed like optimism, he told the judges, “I’ve been waiting for this chance to finally put an end to this long thing that I will always be a singing competition loser,” he said during before his performance.

He confirmed later that he took home the Golden Buzzer confetti.
