Disney has released the second trailer for the live-action Moana, featuring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson reprising his role as the demigod Maui.
The trailer opens with Moana along the shoreline with her Grandma Tala (Rena Owen), her pet pig Pua, and her father, Chief Tui (John Tui). As the story unfolds, Grandma Tala warns of a rising darkness and tasks Moana with finding Maui to restore the heart of Te Fiti.
“Beyond our reef, an evil darkness has found us,” Grandma Tala warns, sending Moana on her mission: “Moana, the ocean chose you. Find Maui. Restore the heart of Te Fiti and save us all.”
The teaser introduces Johnson as Maui, showcasing his immense strength and his classic "You're welcome" catchphrase.
“Maui, demigod of the wind and sea,” Moana says. Johnson’s Maui corrected her “Hero of men. So it goes like this: Maui, shapeshifter, demigod of the wind and sea, hero of men. Women too! Men and women.”
Johnson, 53, then delivers his classic “You’re welcome” in response to Moana’s gratitude.
The trailer also offers a glimpse of Maui’s new shark form and adventures across the ocean. Johnson, who originally voiced the character in the 2016 animated film, shared the trailer and behind-the-scenes footage on Instagram, expressing his honor in showcasing Polynesian culture and the "mana" behind the production.
The full cast was revealed in 2024, according to Teeen Vogue, with Catherine Laga'aia starring as Moana. Auli’i Cravalho, the original voice of Moana, serves as an executive producer.
Following the first teaser released in November 2025, this latest look highlights the film's scenic visuals and the work of the costume designers and choreographers in bringing the animated world to life.
Disney’s live-action Moana is scheduled to hit theaters on July 10, 2026.
