Irish actor and writer Michael Patrick, known for his role in Season 6 of Game of Thrones, passed away on April 7 at the age of 35.

He had been battling Motor Neurone Disease (MND) since his diagnosis in February 2023.

The condition, as defined by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), is a group of progressive neurological disorders that damage motor neurons—the nerve cells responsible for controlling essential muscle functions such as walking, breathing, speaking, and swallowing.

His wife, Naomi Sheehan, announced his passing on Instagram, noting that he died peacefully at the Northern Ireland Hospice.

In a heartfelt tribute, she remembered him as an inspiration who lived life to the fullest, sharing his favorite sentiment: “Eat. Drink. Love.”

She wrote: “Mick was an inspiration to everyone who was privileged enough to come into contact with him, not just in the past few years during his illness but in every day of his life. He lived a life as full as any human can live.”

She reflected on how fully he lived, highlighting his joy, vibrant spirit, and infectious laughter.

Sheehan also thanked everyone who supported them over the past few years. Before ending the tribute, she shared a quote her husband loved, which she said felt appropriate now: “The most important things to do in the world are to get something to eat, something to drink and somebody to love you.” She added, “Eat. Drink. Love.” encouraging others not to overthink life, but to embrace it.

Patrick had been open about his health journey on social media over the past few years.

In August 2025, he posted a video on Instagram thanking supporters who helped fund mobility equipment such as a wheelchair, bed, and adapted van.

His final post came on February 6, when he shared that doctors believed he likely had about a year left to live, while still expressing hope and saying he had “lots to live for.”

Throughout his health journey, Patrick remained open with his supporters on social media, expressing hope and gratitude even in his final posts. Beyond "Game of Thrones," his notable work included roles in "Blue Lights" and This Town.

He also co-wrote and starred in "My Left Nu"t and received the Judges’ Award at The Stage Awards for his performance as Richard III.

He is remembered for his vibrant spirit, his contributions to the arts, and his advocacy during his illness.
