Netflix has officially confirmed that "Grown Ups 3" is in development. Adam Sandler is set to return, and Kyle Newacheck, who worked on "Murder Mystery" and "Happy Gilmore 2," will be directing the film.

Sandler is co-writing the screenplay with his longtime collaborator, Tim Herlihy. While the project is in its early stages and specific plot details and casting remain under wraps, IGN reported.

The original "Grown Ups" was released in 2010 and starred Sandler alongside Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Rob Schneider.

The story followed a group of childhood friends reuniting with their families over the Fourth of July weekend.

The first film was a major box office success, earning more than $271 million worldwide. Its 2013 sequel was also financially successful, grossing approximately $247 million globally.

The film centers on Lenny Feder, played by Adam Sandler, as he moves his family back to his hometown to be closer to his old friends. 

The story follows the group through a series of chaotic adventures involving childhood rivals, college bullies, and unexpected life changes. 

In "Grown Ups 2," Taylor Lautner was featured as a fraternity leader who clashes with Sandler and his friends.

Although Netflix has not yet officially confirmed the full returning cast, it is widely expected that the original stars will reunite.

Netflix Tudum also teased the update on Thursday, May 14, stating, “It’s official: Adam Sandler and his friends will reunite once again for Grown Ups 3.”
