Some exciting casting news: American actress Kirsten Dunst has officially joined the cast as Wendy Garrick in the upcoming film The Housemaid’s Secret.

This is the sequel to the 2025 psychological thriller The Housemaid, based on the novel by Freida McFadden.

According to Deadline, executives and producers moved quickly to cast Dunst following the success of her recent work in Roofman.

Lionsgate confirmed the news on social media last Monday. "Welcome home, Wendy. The Housemaid’s Secret - coming soon."

Liongate featured a photo of Dunst along with a quote from McFadden, author of the second book in the trilogy. "I would prefer if you refer to me as Mrs. Garrick.”

Dunst expressed her excitement on Instagram, noting that the role is a "dream come true."

According to Yahoo Entertainment, Lionsgate first revealed plans to adapt The Housemaid’s Secret back in January. Production is scheduled to begin in 2026.

Sydney Sweeney and Michele Morrone will reprise their roles as Millie Calloway and Enzo Accardi, with Paul Feig returning to direct and Rebecca Sonnenshine writing the screenplay.

While Brandon Sklenar and Amanda Seyfried are not expected to return for the sequel, reports indicate Seyfried has expressed interest in a cameo.

Dunst, who recently starred in Civil War and Roofman, has several other projects ahead, including The Entertainment System Is Down, Reptilia, and the sequel to A Minecraft Movie.
