R and B singer Kris Lawrence has confirmed that the story of former actor Alvin Aragon admitting stealing his cellphone 20 years ago is true.
In a Facebook video posted on September 12, 2024, Aragon confessed that he used to steal from family, friends and even colleagues in the entertainment industry.
Aragon confided, “Alam mo dati, magnanakaw ako. Marami akong ninakawan. Ninakawan ko yung lola ko, binubuksan ko yung drawer niya kumukuha ako ng ₱5,000, ₱10,000. Tsaka kapitbahay namin, kinukuha ko yung cellphone.”
"Si Kris Lawrence, yung singer, ninakawan ko ng cellphone yun sa bahay niya. Meron pang isa eh, co-worker ko sa showbiz. Kinuhanan ko siya ng almost ₱40,000 sa bahay niya,” he added.
As Aragon's video began circulating again, Lawrence, on a video posted on February 23, confirmed that the cellphone robbery did happen.
The Filipino American singer remembered that it was in 2006, when he and fellow R and B singer and friend JR were at a bar in Quezon City when Aragon and his group approached them. They had drinks until the bar was about to close. Lawrence then invited Aragon and his friends to his place where they continued until dawn.
After Aragon and his group left, Lawrence noticed that his phone was missing. “When I was going back to my room, I noticed that nawawala yung cellphone ko. Hanap ako nang hanap. Wala ngani.”
One of Aragon's friends later called Lawrence and told him that Aragon stole his phone.
Lawrence reacted, “I was like, ‘Dude why would you do that? Why would you steal from me in my own house bro? That’s so disrespectful.’”
When Lawrence bumped into Aragon at a gym, the latter apologized. “Nag-sorry siya and honestly my fists were balled up. Gusto ko siyang suntukin pero I know that violence is never the answer."
Lawrence forgave Aragon but admitted, “I said ‘It’s okay’ [pero] medyo binibigyan ko pa rin siya ng attitude [which is] understandable naman kasi [ninakaw] nga niya yung cellphone ko.”
Aragon has changed his ways way back in 2009. In the 2024 video, he said, “Finorgive ako ni Lord sa mga pagnanakaw na ginawa ko. Binago niya ako, binago niya ang puso ko. Simula 2009 hindi na ako nagnanakaw,” he added.
Lawrence agrees that Aragon is a changed person, adding that the incident happened 20 years ago. “I know he’s in a better place now. I know he’s Christian and alam ko naman mabait si Alvin.”
In jest, Lawrence had a parting banter. “Ikaw kasi Alvin eh. Kinalimutan ko na yun pinaalala mo pa. Oo nga, naibalik mo ba?”
