The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special is coming.
On Wednesday, March 10, Disney+ released the show's preview, marking two decades since the series introduced audiences to Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus’ iconic character living a double life as a secret pop singer and a typical teenager.
In the clip, Cyrus, 33, returns in her signature blonde wig, a nostalgic and visual throwback to the character that catapulted Cyrus to fame.
The American actress and singer is also seen entering a recreated set from the Disney Channel series, a callback honoring the show’s lasting impact.
"I am already getting emotional. Wow," the American singer and actress said.
Some scenes were filmed in front of a live studio audience. The special also features an interview with Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper. “This show defined your generation,” Cooper said in the video, to which Cyrus responded, “This anniversary is for them. It’s for us.”
"This feels like home to me," Cyrus concluded in the video. The clip also includes her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, who portrayed Robby Ray Stewart in the 2006 sitcom, and her mother, Tish Cyrus, adding another layer of nostalgia to the celebration.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Hannah Montana special will include unreleased archival footage.
Ahead of the announcement, Cyrus shared last Valentine's Day old photos from the show. "Going through the archives... so many memories xoMC," Cyrus wrote.
Cyrus said in a previous interview reported by Teen Vogue that Hannah Montana “will always be a part” of who she is. She explained that the show became a shared experience that shaped her life and connected her with fans.
In the same report, she described the “Hannahversary” as her way of celebrating and thanking fans who have supported her for 20 years.
Disney+ confirmed the special will premiere on March 24. The 2006 American sitcom about a teenager living a double life became a cultural phenomenon that launched Cyrus’ global career.
The cast included Billy Ray Cyrus, Emily Osment, Mitchell Musso, and Jason Earles, with guest stars such as Dolly Parton, Brooke Shields, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Selena Gomez.
