The iconic slasher film returns with Scream 7.
On Monday, February 5, Paramount Pictures shared another trailer for Scream 7, running under a minute but packed with suspenseful and intense scenes that give viewers a chilling glimpse of what to expect when the film hits theaters.
Scream fans will recall that the previous installment (Scream 6) did not feature Neve Campbell. This time, the Canadian actress reprises her role as Sidney Prescott, the character she last portrayed in Scream 5. Her return marks a significant moment for the franchise.
In a recent social media post, Neve Campbell announced her return to the franchise.
She wrote, “It’s been thirty years since I first picked up the phone, and now I’m picking it up again. I’m so grateful to the incredible team and to all the fans who have supported Scream and Sidney through the years. Kevin Williamson and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share the trailer for #Scream7, coming to theaters February 27, 2026.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new cast includes Mckenna Grace, Isabel May, Joel McHale, Anna Camp, Michelle Randolph, Ethan Embry, Mark Consuelos, Jimmy Tatro, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, and Sam Rechner.
In the new chapter, Sidney (Campbell’s character) must confront the killer to protect and save her loved one. Campbell’s return underscores that the heart of the Scream franchise remains alive, even decades after the original.
Meanwhile, Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega will not return for this installment following their appearances in Scream 6.
A major draw for longtime fans is the return of American filmmaker Kevin Williamson, the original writer of Scream (1996), Scream 2, and Scream 4. Williamson takes on a key creative role in Scream 7 following the exit of directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. His involvement signals a renewed focus on suspense, emotional depth, and character-driven fear.
Scream 7 is set to release theaters on February 27, 2026, as the franchise marks its 30th anniversary.
Neve Campbell’s character is no longer a terrified teenager audiences first met, she is now a survivor who has built a life beyond her past trauma.
The trailer reveals that Sidney is now a mother who must face danger while protecting her child, adding a chilling new dimension to the story. This theme shown of protecting loved ones makes the story especially relatable for audiences worldwide.
Joining Campbell is Friends star Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, one of the few remaining characters from the original movie. Her return reinforces the franchise’s legacy. With Williamson guiding the story and Campbell leading the cast, Ghostface once again emerges as a personal and terrifying threat.
As Scream approaches its 30th anniversary, Scream 7 serves as a full-circle moment for the franchise.
