DC and Warner Bros. released the new official trailer for Supergirl last night, featuring a cameo from Superman actor David Corenswet.
Australian actress Milly Alcock, 25, known for the 2022 drama series House of the Dragon, first appeared as Superman’s Kryptonian cousin in a cameo during the ending sequence of 2025’s Superman.
She now stars as the lead of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, set to hit theaters in the Philippines on June 24.
In the nearly three-minute trailer, Superman appears on a call with his older cousin Kara (Supergirl), telling her, “You're not going to find your stride here if you keep going off-world all the time, Kara. I'm worried you're not going to find your people.” Kara replies with a touch of sadness, “Well, that’s the thing, Clark, I have no people.”
Fans will remember that, unlike Clark Kent, Supergirl wasn’t raised on Earth and only came to live there after Krypton was destroyed.
The Supergirl cast also includes Matthias Schoenaerts as the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, Jason Momoa as Lobo, and David Krumholtz (Numb3rs star) and Emily Beecham (1899 star) as Supergirl’s parents, per IMDb.
Alcock shared the trailer on Instagram, expressing her gratitude: “The trailer is here!! Thank you to everyone who made this job possible. You changed the course of my life. Playing Kara was the biggest surprise. I hope you all enjoy it.”
The story follows Supergirl on a high-stakes, three-day mission to save her dog and loyal companion Krypto, who has been poisoned by Krem. Talking to her superdog, Kara says, “Home is wherever you are, buddy.”
When Krypto’s life is on the line, she races against time: “You cannot give up on me,” she pleads. DC fans and moviegoers can expect plenty of action scenes and intense moments.
The upcoming superhero and action movie is adapted from the comic series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and is directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gillespie described Supergirl as an anti-hero story, highlighting that the character of Alcock carries a lot of personal demons and baggage, setting her apart from Superman.
He emphasized that, unlike many female superheroes who are often portrayed as flawless, Supergirl is “not that at all, which is something male superheroes have been allowed to be for a while.”
The trailer also teases Jason Momoa returning to DC as anti-hero bounty hunter Lobo, who crosses paths with Supergirl. Momoa, 46, previously played Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe.
