Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage is stepping into his first leading TV role in the live-action series “Spider-Noir,” based on Marvel’s “Spider-Man Noir” comics.
Prime Video has released two trailers for the series, offering both an “authentic black & white” version and a “true-hue full color” version, allowing viewers to choose how they want to experience the upcoming superhero crime drama.
The series also features a supporting cast that includes Li Jun Li, Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Karen Rodriguez, Jack Huston, and Abraham Popoola, along with several guest stars.
The story follows Ben Reilly (Cage’s character), an aging private investigator in 1930s New York City. After a deeply personal tragedy, he is forced to confront his past while taking on a new role as the city’s only superhero, navigating a world shaped by crime and corruption.
According to Deadline, producer Chris Miller explained that the idea came naturally after working with Cage on Into the Spider-Verse, with the team seeing "Spider-Noir" as a self-contained universe well suited for live action. Cage, 62, previously voiced "Spider-Man Noir," an alternate version of Peter Parker, in the 2018 animated film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.”
"Spider-Noir" is executive produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the creative duo behind the “Spider-Verse” films and “Project Hail Mary.”
The upcoming live-action series premieres on May 27 on Prime Video.
