The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation revealed its highly anticipated list of inductees for 2026 on Monday, spotlighting some of the most influential figures in music history. Leading the charge are 1990s Britpop legends Oasis and iconic American hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan. Additionally, Phil Collins will be inducted as a solo performer, marking a significant milestone 16 years after he was previously honored as part of the progressive rock band Genesis.
The foundation recognizes artists whose music has significantly impacted the industry, known for its originality and far-reaching influence. This year's selection highlights a range of genres, from British heavy metal to soul and punk.
Joining Oasis and Wu-Tang Clan are British heavy metal pioneers Iron Maiden, legendary soul singers Luther Vandross and Sade, punk-rock trailblazer Billy Idol, and the influential post-punk group Joy Division, which later reformed as New Order.
The 'Early Influence' category honors notable figures such as Cuban singer Celia Cruz, Nigerian musician Fela Kuti, and pioneering rappers Queen Latifah and MC Lyte. Country-rock innovator Gram Parsons, who bridged the gap between 1960s rock and modern country, also joins the list.
The 'Musical Excellence' category celebrates the contributions of songwriter Linda Creed and renowned producers Arif Mardin, Jimmy Miller, and Rick Rubin.
In a special recognition, American TV host Ed Sullivan, whose impact on rock and roll through his show "The Ed Sullivan Show" is immeasurable, will receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award. This award is presented to nonperforming industry professionals who have shaped the creative development of rock and roll.
To qualify for induction, artists or bands must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to their nomination year.
The official induction ceremony will take place on November 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The event will be broadcast in December on ABC and Disney+.
