Mexican actor Iñaki Godoy gave fans a treat by sharing behind-the-scene photos from season two of One Piece, where he plays Captain Monkey D. Luffy.
“Turns out I did have some stuff,” he wrote on Instagram, referring to the photos he posted. The show’s first season premiered in 2023, while Season 2 was released on March 10, 2026.
In a series of Instagram posts, Godoy, 22, also shared off-set moments with co-star Taz Skylar, who plays the suave cook Sanji. The videos highlighted their real-life friendship beyond the series.
Earlier, Godoy had teased about not having any behind-the-scene content. “Guys I just realized I basically have no behind the scenes stuff from shooting season 2 of @onepiecenetflix but I promise you we had such a great time even though I have no photographic proof to show. Thanks for all the love, and if you haven’t already go check out our show, you would make me so happy if you did.”
He later shared a series of photos and videos, offering fans a closer look at the camaraderie and energy on set. One post in particular drew attention, as Godoy and Skylar, 30, reacted emotionally to a moment involving fan-favorite Tony Tony Chopper:
“CHOPPER MY BOY WHAT HAPPENED NOOOOOOOOO… @onepiecenetflix”
In the clip, both actors were seen crying, highlighting the emotional storyline that features Chopper in a bigger role this season.
Fans responded positively to the posts, praising the candid behind-the-scenes moments. Godoy’s latest post, shared yesterday, teased, “This is the last one, we promise.”
Before taking on the role of Luffy, Iñaki Godoy had been developing his acting career in Mexico. His IMDb profile lists previous appearances in television series such as The Imperfects and Centauro's Woman.
According to Teen Vogue, among the many actors who auditioned for the lead role, Godoy stood out during the casting process. His auditions left a strong impression on creator Eiichiro Oda.
One Piece marked a turning point in his career, introducing him to a wider international audience. Godoy’s portrayal of Luffy highlight's the main character’s optimism, humor, and determination.
