What started as a simple wedding invitation became an unforgettable moment for Eleisa “Elli” Aparico and Thomas “Tommy” Wolter.
The couple, who had invited Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny to their wedding, ended up getting married live on the football field during Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show at the Levi’s Stadium on Sunday, February 8.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Bad Bunny, instead of accepting the invitation from the couple, extended an invitation for them to participate in the halftime show which they happily accepted.
Just minutes into Bad Bunny’s performance, the couple exchanged vows in front of thousands in the stadium, surrounded by musicians and dancers dressed in white.
Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, served as witness and even signed the couple’s marriage certificate, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The ceremony concluded with the couple cutting a towering wedding cake, celebrating as the show continued around them.
The newlyweds’ first kiss set the stage for the next portion of the performance. Lady Gaga performed a salsa-infused rendition of her hit “Die With a Smile,” accompanied by Los Sobrinos, a Puerto Rican salsa band featured on Bad Bunny’s most recent album.
Sharing his excitement and gratitude on Instagram, Wolter wrote: “An unforgettable dance with the love of my life. Cannot thank @badbunnypr enough for this beautiful opportunity of a lifetime.”
The halftime show itself was star-studded. Bad Bunny and Lady Gaga salsa danced to his song Baile Inolvidable. Other celebrities in attendance were Ricky Martin, Cardi B, Karol G, Jessica Alba, Dave Grutman, Alix Earle, Pedro Pascal, and Young Miko.
The ceremony added a unique, personal touch to what was already being called one of the most memorable halftime shows in Super Bowl history. For Aparico and Wolter, a simple invitation to a favorite artist became a historic, once-in-a-lifetime moment where Bad Bunny’s set became the soundtrack of their wedding amidst the Super Bowl halftime show.
