Regine Velasquez, after forty years in showbusiness,  has decided to slow down. Asia's Songbird revealed that she will be holding one final major concert in October before she gradually steps back from performing solo.

In an  interview posted on her Facebook page, Regine shared, “I'm celebrating my 40th year in the business… I’m going to have a concert sometime in October, pero wala pa kaming date at wala pa kaming venue. But it's going to be my last big concert.”

When asked what comes after her final show, she explained, “I still have projects next year. And then eventually I’ll retire.”

Regine, 55,  shared her husband, singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid’s perspective on retirement: “Retirement means hindi ka totally kailangan tumigil. It means doing whatever it is that you want to do. You just have to free yourself of the pressure.”

Regine added, “Parang hindi naman daw talaga kasi [retirement]. Kasi ‘di ba iyong concept natin nung retirement is tumunganga ka na lang sa bahay mo. Parang ayaw ko din naman iyon. Hindi din ako sanay nun. Parang I have to find something to do. Mananahi ba ako? I don't know. I guess, I don't have to completely stop.”

Last Tuesday, March 24, Regine accepted her ‘Woman of the Year’ award at the Billboard Philippines Women In Music 2026 event held at Maybank Performing Arts Theater, BGC. Presented by the nation’s Girl Group BINI, she took the stage to honor her fellow awardees and reflect on how music has shaped her life.

“Thank you very much for this recognition. This industry has changed my life in so many wonderful ways. It has helped my family. Marami pong nagawa ang industriyang ito sa buhay ko, so I’m forever gonna be grateful to this industry. And 40 years later, here I am. And to my Savior Jesus Christ, I am forever Yours. Thank you so much for all the blessings.”
