River Joseph, Emilio Daez give glimpses on their characters in ‘Tayo Sa Wakas’

Up and coming actors River Joseph and Emilio Daez recently talked about their characters in the romance-drama film “Tayo Sa Wakas”, starring Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano, during a press conference last May 2. 

As River's second Star Cinema project in a row, he is grateful for the opportunity to work again with the studio. “It's an honor to be part of another Star Cinema movie. Lalo na directed by Direk Cathy (Garcia-Sampana) and syempre, starring DonBelle,” he said.

River plays Shane, a coworker of Cisco (Donny) and Cheska (Belle).  "I guess he ends up having a rivalry with Cisco in terms of work and also in romance,” River teased.

The actor previously appeared in the teen romcom series "He’s Into Her," based on a Wattpad novel, where he also worked with the pair.

Emilio, 26, then casually told his story about how he landed the role of Buki, Cisco's college best friend. He recalled, “Nasa gym lang ako. Tapos na akong mag gym. This was, I think, 9 am. And then, tinawagan ako ng Star Cinema, ‘Uy, Emilio. Free ka ba ngayon? May taping with Direk Cathy.”

He continued, “Sabi ko, okay, I’ll be there. Five minutes lang. So, naligo lang ako and then, diretso na ako sa set kasi it's been a dream of mine. Especially with Direk Cathy and now starring Donny and Belle.” He added in jest, “buti nga naligo pa ako eh.”

In the film, Buki and Cisco's characters go into business together. “And makikita ninyo kung gaano ka-successful iyon,” he hinted.

Other cast members also graced the event, including Miah Canton, Joross Gamboa, and Jeffrey “Epy” Quizon, with  director Cathy Garcia-Sampana and writer Vanessa Valdez. The film is scheduled for cinema release this May 27.

Both River and Emilio joined “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition (2025),” where Emilio exited early with his duo partner Michael Sager, while River finished as the 4th Big Placer with AZ Martinez.

Emilio is the younger brother of actor Mikael Daez. River, on the other hand, is the youngest son of the late businessman Robert “Bobby” Lim Joseph and Ida Manalo Joseph.
