Actor and singer Ronnie Liang, founder of the Project Ngiti Foundation, is expanding his advocacy work as the foundation now offers free cleft lip and cleft palate operations nationwide.
Filipinos born with a cleft lip or a cleft palate may get free surgical evaluation and treatment through the foundation’s network of partner hospitals nationwide. The program accommodates patients as young as two months old, as well as adults in need of corrective surgery.
Established in 2022, the foundation was inspired by Liang’s 2007 hit song “Ngiti,” with the mission of bringing smiles and renewed confidence to children and adults affected by cleft conditions.
The initiative is made possible through partnerships with organizations such as Smile Train, along with local hospitals and medical teams that assist in providing surgeries, laboratory services, and post-operative care.
To avail of the program, individuals seeking assistance must send a message to the foundation’s official Facebook page with the person's full name, age, address, contact number, and a photo showing the person's condition.
The foundation then handles coordination with partner hospitals for screening, scheduling, and treatment. The foundation actively shares updates, photos, and videos of successful operations on its Facebook page, giving the public a closer look at its advocacy.
“Please share this post so families across the country can learn about this life-changing opportunity,” Liang said in a pinned Facebook post.
Recently, the foundation received the Outstanding Service to Humanity Award, recognizing its growing humanitarian impact.
To further support its programs, Liang is encouraging the public to join a golf tournament on May 16 in Lipa City, Batangas, with proceeds going to the foundation’s cleft care initiatives.
