Sparkle GMA Artist Center recently confirmed on social media that Ruru, 28, has officially joined the cast of the upcoming project. While details about his exact role are still under wraps, the announcement teased, "Prepare to see a different side of Ruru in this cinematic exploration of Philippine history."

Ruru returns to the big screen following his previous project, the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry "Green Bones," which won him multiple Best Supporting Actor awards.

During the production's send-off party, it was announced that Ruru will travel to Spain with other cast members. Joining him in the cast are Romnick Sarmenta, Michael De Mesa, Christian Vasquez, Arnold Reyes, Paolo O'Hara, and Michael Roy Jornales.

The film will be directed by Paolo Dy, who directed and co-wrote the 2016 historical biographical film "Ignacio de Loyola." "Los Salvajes Bravos" is produced by the Jesuit Communications Foundation, the same producer of "Ignacio de Loyola" and a co-producer of the 2023 MMFF entry "GomBurZa". "Los Salvajes Bravos" will explore a significant event in Philippine history during the colonial period.

Ruru Madrid is widely recognized for his roles in "Green Bones," "Dormitoryo," "Black Rider," "Lolong," and "Encantadia."

He recently underwent training in Laraw Kali Pamuok alongside his girlfriend, actress Bianca Umali, and delivered a Panantukan demonstration at FMA LKP - Katipunan ng mga Bagani: Gathering of the Warrior.
