Filming for the latest iteration of Tomb Raider has been temporarily halted after actress Sophie Turner was injured on set. Turner portrays  Lara Croft, the protagonist in Prime Video’s adaptation of the popular video game.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon MGM Studios confirmed that Turner’s injury was not serious, but production has been put on hold as a precaution to allow for her recovery.

It is still unclear how the injury occurred, but Deadline reports the pause could last several weeks. Fortunately, the crew will not be affected and will continue to be paid during this period.

Fox News reported that, in a previous appearance on SiriusXM’s The Julia Cunningham Show, Turner shared details about the intense training she underwent to prepare for the physically demanding role of Lara Croft.

Turner, known for the HBO series Game of Thrones and the X-Men films, takes on the iconic role of adventurer and archaeologist Lara Croft. The series is being developed by Phoebe Waller‑Bridge, creator of the dramedy series Fleabag.  Waller-Bridge serves as writer and executive producer for the new series.

Lara Croft has previously been portrayed by Hollywood actresses Angelina Jolie in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and The Cradle of Life (2003), and by Alicia Vikander in the 2018 reboot of Tomb Raider.

Joining Turner in the cast are Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Paterson Joseph, Bill Paterson, Jack Bannon, and Celia Imrie, among others. A release date for the series has not yet been announced.
