Sue Ramirez reflects on motherhood dreams and the reality of responsibility

At a recent press conference for her upcoming film “Project Baby,” Sue Ramirez  opened up about how she once dreamed of becoming a young mother. As she grew older, Sue also admitted that she began to realize the huge responsibility that comes with parenthood.

Much like her character Sandy, she had experienced a moment in her life when she told someone, “Buntisin mo na ako,” because she genuinely wanted to have a baby. Growing up in a big family with four siblings made her appreciate the joy of having many people around her.

The actress explained that maturity eventually made her question whether she was truly ready for motherhood or if it was only an “impulse” at the time.

“Talaga, kapag bata ka hindi mo pa gano'n naiintindihan iyong sitwasyon,” she said. She pointed out that being able to take care of pets like dogs or cats is completely different from raising a child. For her, one of the biggest responsibilities of being a parent is making sure a child grows up to become a good person.

Sue , 29, also talked about the pressure women sometimes feel when it comes to having children. She admitted that the “ticking time bomb” of womanhood is something she can’t ignore, especially if she hopes to have a child someday.

In hindsight, Sue said she’s thankful she didn’t get pregnant during those years because her life would have turned out very differently. She quipped, “Buti na lang, kundi wala tayo dito ngayon. Baka nag-aalaga ako ng bata.” 

While she believes she could have handled motherhood well, being capable is very different from truly being ready. Work remains her top priority for now. If motherhood eventually comes into her life, she would gladly welcome it.

In the film, Sue plays Sandy Montecillo, a woman in search of the perfect “baby daddy” for her planned pregnancy. She eventually meets Migo Andrade, played by Rico Blanco, who seems to be the perfect fit. Sandy initially intends to keep emotions out of the arrangement, but things become complicated when love starts to develop. 

Sue is currently in a relationship with actor Dominic Roque. Dating rumors spread in November 2024 after they were spotted together at a bar in Siargao. Dominic later confirmed their relationship in December of the same year.
