Theme from Ai-Ai delas Alas’ 2003 movie 'Ang Tanging Ina' goes viral on TikTok

It’s been decades since Ai-Ai delas Alas first made audiences laugh as Ina Montecillo in the beloved comedy movie "Ang Tanging Ina." Today, one tune has quietly taken over TikTok feeds: the theme song of the iconic Filipino film. 

Originally performed decades ago by the Queen of Comedy herself, Ai-Ai delas Alas, the song has found new life on the platform.

Since its resurgence, it has been used in over 19,000 TikTok posts—from day-in-the-life clips to GRWM (Get Ready With Me) videos and random epic moments. 

Even the comedienne joined the trend, posting her own video four days ago, which quickly garnered nearly 160,000 views and more than 1,000 engagements, proving that nostalgia combined with happy vibes can still capture the hearts of longtime fans and new audiences.

She also shared a fan-made edited clip of "Ang Tanging Ina" on her official Instagram account. 

In her post, she wrote: “Thank you LORD sa pelikulang ito na napaka klasik .. salamat din Star Cinema and of course ang mahusay na director na kaibigan ko (R.I.P.) "Ang Tanging Ina," released in 2003 and directed by the late Wenn V. Deramas, tells the hilarious and heartwarming story of Ina Montecillo, a widowed mother juggling the challenges of raising her children while finding love and laughter along the way. 

The film, starring Ai-Ai delas Alas alongside “Comedy Star for All Seasons” Eugene Domingo, Filipino actor and chef Marvin Agustin, and others, became a cultural touchstone for Filipino audiences, cementing Ai-Ai’s status as the Queen of Comedy.

The film’s popularity led to three sequels: "Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat," "Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last na ‘To!)," and "Enteng ng Ina Mo."
