Israelis gathered on Sunday (December 28) to mourn Shimshon Mordechai, the victim of a ramming attack in northern Israel earlier in the week.

Mordechai was killed by a Palestinian assailant in a ramming attack on Friday (December 26). Israeli emergency services said the assailant also later stabbed a woman and killed her.

The assailant, from the occupied West Bank, was shot and wounded by a civilian at the scene and taken to hospital, the Israeli police said in a statement.

At Mordechai's funeral, his wife spoke emotionally and said his presence will be missed.
