Malacañang advised Filipinos residing in California to remain vigilant following a possible retaliatory strike by Iran on the US state.
The advisory followed the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) notification to California police departments that Iran attempted to launch unmanned aerial vehicles on unspecified targets in February and warned of potential future attacks.
In a press briefing, Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro emphasized that the safety of Filipinos overseas remains a top priority, and the Philippine government is prepared to conduct repatriation operations if needed.
“Kapag may mga ganiyan na impormasyon, kailangan din talagang maghanda ang ating bansa para sa ating mga kababayan,” Castro said.
She also stressed the importance of taking intelligence from U.S. law enforcement agencies seriously.
“Hindi ito puwedeng isawalang-bahala o tulugan; kailangan na maging alerto rin tayo kung ano’t anuman ang mangyayari sa ating mga kababayan sa California,” she added.
The Middle East conflict has disrupted global oil supplies, as well as international shipping and air travel.
As of March 11, 2026, more than 110 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their dependents have already been repatriated, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
