PRC: Cebu Normal University grad takes top spot in licensure exam for secondary level teachers

The PRC and Board for Professional Teachers announced that 57,729 out of 79,493 examinees passed the 2025 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (Secondary Level), posting a 72.62% passing rate. Jed Vincent Requilme Abadia of Cebu Normal University topped the exam with a 94.80% rating.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Board for Professional Teachers (BPT) announced on Thursday that a graduate of Cebu Normal University, one of the oldest universities in the province of Cebu, took the top spot in the November 2025 licensure exams for secondary level teachers.


Topping the November 2025 exam for secondary level teachers was Jed Vincent Requilme Abadia of Cebu Normal University (formerly Cebu State College), who earned a rating of 94.80%.


Meanwhile, another graduate of the same university, Christel Zamora de los Reyes, topped the November 2025 exam for elementary teachers with a rating of 94.40%. Cebu Normal University began as a branch of the Philippine Normal School in 1902 but became an independent institution in 1924.


In the November 2025 licensure exam for secondary level teachers, the other top placers include: James Brian Pantilgan Banag, also of Cebu Normal University, and Jan Kenrey Dalag Licayan of the University of the Philippines–Cebu. Both placed second with a rating of 94.60%:


Placing third were three examinees who achieved ratings of 94.40%: Raidar Metoda Lasala from Philippine Normal University–Visayas; Christine Ese Salmero Perez of Cebu Normal University (Cebu State College); and Recto Mantilla Ruiz Jr. of North Eastern Mindanao State University–Main.


The PRC reported that all in all, 57,729 out of 79,493 secondary teacher examinees passed the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) for an overall passing rate of 72.62%.


The exams were administered on September 21 and November 30 across 45 testing centers nationwide, as well as in Hong Kong and Thailand.
