President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. assured the families displaced by the May 23 fire in Parola Compound, Binondo in Manila that government assistance will continue until they have rebuilt their homes and recovered from the incident.

Marcos said the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), other national agencies, and the Manila city government are working together to support displaced families. He announced that affected households are receiving hygiene kits, food packs, and ₱10,000 in financial aid.

“Hindi po kami titigil ng pagbigay ng pagkain at lahat ng assistance,” he said. “Wala pong tigil ‘yan, tuloy-tuloy po naming gagawin ‘yan.”

The President also said the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) will provide building materials, while the National Housing Authority (NHA) will extend an additional ₱30,000 in rebuilding assistance.

The fire, which broke out on May 23, displaced at least 7,123 residents — or 2,134 families — and destroyed 1,266 structures before being declared out early Sunday morning.

Among those affected were 310 senior citizens and more than 2,700 minors. Authorities reported no fatalities or injuries and are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
