SEOUL – South Korea's special prosecutor has requested a 10-year prison sentence for former President Yoon Suk Yeol over charges that include obstructing arrest attempts following his failed effort to impose martial law, Yonhap News Agency reported on Friday.


Prosecutors allege that the ousted president attempted to block investigators seeking to arrest him in January by barricading himself inside the presidential compound.


This marks the first jail term sought by special prosecutors among the multiple charges Yoon currently faces.
