Scotland ushered in the New Year on Thursday (January 1) with a dazzling firework display over Edinburgh Castle.


Edinburgh's iconic New Year "Hogmanay" celebrations attracts tens of thousands of revellers to the Scottish capital for street parties and fireworks. 


The celebration was cancelled last year due to poor weather.
