Gazans attend prayers, visit cemetery on first day of Eid

Palestinians in Gaza City observed Eid al-Adha with prayers and visits to cemeteries to honor lost loved ones amid ongoing conflict. The celebrations took place against the backdrop of continued violence following a fragile truce.

Palestinians in Gaza City attended Eid al-Adha prayers on Wednesday (May 27) and some visited the graves of their lost loved ones.

Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha by attending early-morning prayers, gathering together with friends and sacrificing an animal, commemorating the willingness of the prophet Abraham to sacrifice his son for God.

Some 900 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes since the truce came into effect, according to figures from Gaza health officials that do not distinguish between combatants and civilians.

Four Israeli soldiers have been killed by militants during the same period, the country's military has said.
