Two persons were seen walking dangerously close to Kilauea's erupting lava fountains, as seen in footage captured by a U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) webcam on Tuesday (December 23), sparking safety concerns near the active volcanic site.

The footage showed the men moving back and forth in front of dramatic lava displays, with one individual gesturing toward the webcam. USGS had estimated the lava fountains seen to be approximately 100 feet (30 metres) in height.

Kilauea, one of the most active volcanoes globally, has been "erupting episodically" since December 23, said USGS.
