Fired as head coach of the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, Mike McDaniel is set to interview for the same position with the Cleveland Browns on Monday, multiple media outlets reported Sunday.
McDaniel, 42, finished the 2025 season with a 7-10 record and posted a 35-33 mark over four seasons, including two postseason appearances in his first two years with Miami. He signed a three-year contract extension with the Dolphins in August 2024.
McDaniel, who served as the Browns’ wide receivers coach in 2014, will be Cleveland’s sole head coach interview on Monday and the sixth candidate overall. Two-time Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski was dismissed last Monday after compiling a 45-56 record over six seasons and leading the Browns to the playoffs twice.
Cleveland has also interviewed offensive coordinator Tommy Rees and defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, along with Baltimore Ravens OC Todd Monken, Seattle Seahawks DC Aden Durde, and Cincinnati Bengals OC Dan Pitcher.
The Browns have reportedly requested an interview with Los Angeles Rams pass game coordinator Nate Scheelhause as well.
